Science

This year Science will be taught in two week units that alternate with Social Studies.  Lessons will be aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).  The NGSS are designed to provide students with a hands-on, dynamic, and up-to-date science education.

In science we are starting a unit that focuses on cells.  Students will be able to explain the basics of cell theory, identify the major organelles inside plant and animal cells, explain the functions and relationships of the major organelles, and create a 3D model of a cell.

Social Studies

This year Social Studies will be taught in two week units that will alternate with Science.  Lessons will be aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for Social Studies (NJCCCS).

As an educator, my first passion was Social Studies, therefore, I design lessons that allow students to not only learn Social Studies but analyze, model, interpret, and experience the material that we are studying!

The last unit that we completed in Social Studies revolved around ancient civilizations.  Students learned about Ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and the Indus Valley Civilizations.  Students then created an ancient civilization of their own, which included a 3D model on Minecraft, maps, a flag, and laws.
